We have developed different survey questions to help us understand different community members’ parking needs and challenges, which will inform the development of updated parking management approaches in the commercial areas of Ambleside and Dundarave.

Tourism Paid Parking

The District of West Vancouver has implemented paid parking in many of the parks in the western region. They are now considering adding paid parking within our commercial areas on Argyle between 14th and 16th, John Lawson Park and Dundarave Park (including south Bellevue between 24th and 25th) to generate revenue from visitors to our community to support the maintenance and upkeep of our parks. This parking would be free to West Vancouver residents.

The following questions will support the development of tourism-based paid parking recommendations for Council to consider.

Please share your level of support for introducing paid parking at the following tourism/recreation destinations. Rate your level of support from 1 (do not support) to 5 (fully support). Please note parking in these areas would be free to West Vancouver residents, as they are in the other parks.

Different communities have taken different approaches to modifying parking fees in the quieter winter months compared to the summer months. Select the approach that you feel would be best for Ambleside and Dundarave.

Only charge for parking at tourism-based locations during peak season (March 1 – October 31)
Charge a higher rate during a shorter peak season (May 15 – October 14) and a reduced rate during the low season (October 15 – May 14)
