Farewell to a Village Fixture: 7-Eleven Closes in Ambleside

For many residents, the recent closure of the Ambleside 7-Eleven marks the end of an era.

For decades, the store served as a familiar and convenient stop for everything from morning coffee and late-night snacks to lottery tickets, Slurpees, and everyday essentials. Generations of West Vancouver residents have memories of stopping in after school, before work, or on a summer stroll along the waterfront.

While the closure is bittersweet, it also reflects the ongoing evolution of Ambleside. Our village continues to change and adapt as new businesses open, existing businesses invest in their spaces, and the commercial district responds to the needs and preferences of today’s residents and visitors.

Commercial areas are always evolving. Over the years, Ambleside has seen businesses come and go, each leaving its own mark on the community. While we say goodbye to a longtime fixture, we also look forward to what comes next for this prominent location and the opportunities it may bring to further enhance the vibrancy of the neighbourhood.

The good news for loyal customers is that there will still be a small 7-Eleven presence in Ambleside. Many favourite convenience items can still be found at the Esso service station at the corner of 1503 Marine Drive. And for those wondering about one of the brand’s most iconic offerings, we can only hope they have found a spot for the beloved Slurpee machine!
