PAY PARKING IN AMBLESIDE PARK
We have learned from the District that the anticipated date for the start of the first 90 minutes of free pay parking in Ambleside Park will be July 7th.
While this change has taken longer than we had hoped, we are grateful to see this free parking time being introduced. Ninety minutes provides a meaningful opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy a walk along the seawalk, spend time at the dog park, relax at the beach, attend a sports activity, or simply enjoy the waterfront without immediately needing to pay for parking.
After the initial 90 minutes of free parking, regular pay parking rates will come into effect. We are hopeful that this approach strikes a balance between providing access to our beautiful waterfront parks while also helping to support Ambleside’s business district and surrounding residential neighbourhoods. By encouraging park and seawalk visitors to park in designated park parking areas, rather than occupying commercial parking spaces for extended periods, more parking should remain available for customers visiting local businesses, attending appointments, dining, shopping, and supporting the many merchants that contribute to the vibrancy of our village.
We appreciate the District’s efforts to refine the program based on community and business feedback and look forward to seeing the positive impact this change will have for park users, residents, and businesses.
BATCH AMBLESIDE
Many residents have been asking about the status of Batch Ambleside and when it will reopen for the season.
While we had hoped to see the popular waterfront destination open earlier, the reopening has been delayed due to operational and permitting requirements, including from Vancouver Coastal Health, that need to be addressed before the site can welcome guests once again. Although these behind-the-scenes processes can sometimes take longer than expected, they are an important part of ensuring the venue is ready for a successful season.
Batch has become a popular gathering place on the Ambleside waterfront, offering a unique opportunity to enjoy food, drinks, and spectacular ocean views. We know many residents and visitors are eager for its return, and we share that enthusiasm.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and look forward to welcoming Batch back to the waterfront as soon as the necessary approvals and preparations are complete.
