Seasonal Parking Rates Coming to Ambleside Park

October 27, 2025

Starting Saturday, November 1, seasonal parking rates will be in effect at Ambleside Park. The rate will be $2.50 per hour (tax included) and will remain in place until May 31, 2026.

As noted in the recent North Shore News article, despite the ADBIA’s ask to pause the pay parking until after the Christmas holidays, Council instead opted to reduce the hourly rate, hoping it will make an impact on those choosing to park in the commercial area rather than to pay in Ambleside Park.

There’s been a decrease in sales to nearby businesses since pay parking was implemented, with many reporting up to 30 per cent decrease in revenue.

The ADBIA continues to monitor spillover parking from Ambleside Park and will share our findings with District Council to help guide future decisions. We will also continue to advocate for stronger bylaw enforcement in our commercial areas. With that in mind, please be aware of the parking time limits and no-parking zones, particularly on Bellevue Avenue, where spillover is most noticeable.

FREE RESIDENT PARKING PASS

If you are a West Vancouver resident, you can apply for a free annual parking pass. You’ll need to provide proof of vehicle registration showing a West Vancouver address. Applications are verified within two to three business days. You can apply online by visiting the parking portal and creating an account. If you need assistance, please contact the District.

FOR BUSINESSES:

We are asking all local businesses to help ease parking pressures in the area:

  • Encourage staff who live in West Vancouver to apply for a free annual parking pass so they can park in Ambleside Park. There is no time limit restrictions with the pass.
  • If staff are not eligible, please ask them to use parking areas outside of the Ambleside commercial zone whenever possible.
  • If your business has customer or client parking, please remind visitors to use those spaces first before parking on nearby streets.
  • Consider carpooling, cycling, or transit options for staff during busy periods.

FOR RESIDENTS and VISITORS:

We are asking for everyone’s help to keep parking available for customers and clients in the Ambleside commercial area:

  • Visitors to the beach, dog park, sports fields, or walking the seawall, who are looking for parking outside of Ambleside Park, kindly avoid parking in the commercial areas. Please consider using Argyle Avenue or John Lawson Park, which offers free three-hour parking, or other areas outside of the main business area of Bellevue Avenue, Marine Drive or Clyde Avenue.
  • Many of our businesses have designated customer parking. When visiting, ask staff or call ahead to see if parking is available.
  • Two-hour complimentary underground parking is available in Grosvenor Ambleside’s parkade, accessed from 13th Street or Bellevue Avenue for visitors coming to the area.

Together, these small steps can make a big difference in keeping parking accessible for customers and supporting a positive experience in our commercial areas, helping to ensure everyone has convenient access and supports our local businesses.

Your cooperation is appreciated! It Takes A Village!
