West Vancouver Flooding
While most of our businesses managed to get by with minimal flooding or damage due to the atmospheric river on October 19, many on Bellevue Avenue in Dundarave were not so fortunate. All of the businesses in 2419 Bellevue, including those on the second floor, have had to relocate until such time that the power can be restored to the building. This could take a couple of months. Those that were below street level will be out of their offices for longer as renovations take place.
We are so grateful to Kyla from Limelight Florists and Kate from The Bakehouse for letting us know about the flooding early that morning. We were able to reach the fabulous crew at LifeSpace Gardens, who left their homes on a Saturday morning to come and help our businesses and ensure the boardwalk and planters were not damaged. Kelly from IGA donated bags of salt to help stop the flow of water as sandbags were scarce. Together, the businesses and residents of Dundarave came together during this event to avoid even more damage. Nigel from Malkin Cleaners was on the scene within hours providing fans and drying equipment to the businesses that received water damage.
It is in times such as these that our tagline – It Takes a Village to Make a Village – rings true. Thank you to all who helped!
